David C. Hanson, M.D.

David C. Hanson, M.D. (“Dr. Dave”) is a pediatrician and is board certified in general pediatrics and pediatric hospital medicine. Dr. Dave grew up in rural Minnesota, and he attended undergraduate and medical school at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Dave’s medical career has spanned two decades and has focused on education (i.e., patient, parent, medical student, and resident), patient- and family- centered care, quality improvement, and excellence in clinical care grounded in scientific evidence.

Dr. Dave started his pediatric career at Johns Hopkins Medical Institute, in Baltimore, MD, where he completed his pediatric residency and where he served as an invited faculty member. He re-located to the University of Minnesota where he helped establish the pediatric hospital medicine program. He later became a founding member of the hospitalist group for the Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplant service. This role has included working with patients with epidermolysis bullosa, a rare skin disorder in which the skin is very fragile and susceptible to even the slightest mechanical trauma.

Dr. Dave published his first peer reviewed scientific medical journal article on research he completed as a high school senior. He has continued to be involved in medical research, publish and present at local and national conferences since then as well as being an invited author for the AAP Textbook of Pediatric Care. In addition, Dr. Dave has spent a considerable amount of his career working with medical and resident education including serviing as co-site director for clinical education at Johns Hopkins and a more expansive role as the second-year medical student clinical skills pediatric course director for the University of Minnesota. He was a member of the founding committee for the pediatric rapid response team at the University of Minnesota Children’s Hospital and completed much of the initial quality improvement work with that program.

He has always supported family- and patient-centered care and also served as the faculty liaison to the Parent Advisory Board at the University of Minnesota Children’s Hospital. This experience crystallized his commitment to center care around the patient and their family as a “partnership” and the vital need to seek feedback from them in order to improve the process and enhance clinical results. It was through developing this program that Dr. Dave learned, first-hand, how to optimize evidence-based treatment regimens so that they succeed in the “real” world.

Dr. Dave’s importance to the company is grounded in a to-tier general pediatric expertise with a focus on the scientific evidence behind using each and every ingredient we put into our science-based formulations. Through this role, Dr. Dave hopes to set a new gold standard for the pediatric skincare community.
